Family
Sculpture | Art & Design Foundation Programme
My first sculpture attempt, it shows the cohesion and dependency of the family members that work in one unit. One element taken out would disrupt the equilibrium and balance; the rest might suffer and even collapse. The four stones connected represent my family, each stone a different member. This sculpture was inspired by the intense changes in my life that took place recently. My older sister leaving for studies, and at the same time my father relocating because of his job. The two stones leaning towards opposite sides, representing my father and sister. Yet my mother, the second stone, in the middle, balancing us all out. I am the biggest, the ground stone and the perforation in it, symbolizes the current void in my life.
